Am I the only one here who can not find any organized play in my area? I'm living In the upper NJ, area. Anyone else out there like me?

I get the impression a lot of people are in the same boat. For places without organized play, either LGS don't support DCI, or the ones that do are so entrenched in other CCG/CMGs that there isn't enough interest in A&AM.
I've noticed several forum members here seem to be proprietors/employees of LGS and have taken an active interest in promoting organized play. They might have some helpful advice.
The only thing I could say is go to a local game store that already is set up for DCI, register yourself and some friends and play at the store to drum up interest from the regulars to get enough people involved to support organized play.
This game has only been out for a few months, so it might take some time to build up a large enough base for organized play to become more common.

You would think that in the NJ/NY area there would be enough interest to at least have some organized play.
I have tried to have turneys at our store in Indy and only one other person has shown up. I think there are a couple of kids now hooked on AAM and maybe they will take them to school and get more folks interested.
The other problem is that the DCI kits that WOFC are putting out right now are pretty weak.

What you gotta do is band together, and show the shop/owner that is it worth his investment in time and money to hold tournies. A solid core of players who are loyal and buy would satisfy an owner in hosting games.

What if you don't have a LGS
1-Find one
2-Convince some friends to play
3-S.O.L. :(

Another solution would be to move to Montreal where I will be running a tournament this weekend! ;)

I recently asked for feedback on tournament armies and got no responses on this forum. I was well on my way to starting an inferiority complex.........maybe there just aren't many tournmaments.

and now is uninterested in holding tourneys due to the poor sales he created.
it goes like this, LGS owner not interested in selling AAM. many people ask about it and show interest, so he decides to order it in. when it comes in the prices are outrageous. ($20 per booster, $30 per starter - Canadian dollars) demand dries up due to prices, people (including me) don't buy what they said they would. so now he is stuck with stock that's not moving and seems uninterested in running tournaments that may drive some demand.
therefor i have no where to play tourneys either.

If that's the case then what's the point of players trying to motivate interest in the game in the store. That's depressing. I was hoping this game would catch in the region. Sigh, well I guess any players can try to get together outside of the lgs. I simply don't have the money (I'm a student) to float a game at any lgs. After $150-200 I have to call it quits.

Our first tournament (a Single Booster DRAFT) will be held November 20, 2005. Each player buys a single booster and makes 50 pt army after the draft from what each player chose. Should be interesting.

I work at a B&M store in Toronto, and I have to say the advice here is right: Make it clear to the owner that it's worth his/her time to run the tournies. One or two persons being interested probly isn't enough. I've been pushing it at my store where there a half dozen regular players and a few more casual players and had a hard time getting enough people out to play. But I'll say that if there's anything people want done, and there's money to be made at it, *most* stores will try to provide it. If a store won't provide tournaments where there's real demand, I have very little sympathy for them. But if only 1-2 people are interested in coming, there's very little they can do - it's almost impossible to create demand where it doesn't exist.
Pumping products that people aren't really interested is a great way for a store to lose money.
Also, are most canadian stores really charging $20 for boosters / $30 for starters?
