map placement

i havn't seen this question on this board yet, and i didn't catch it in the rule book

when i looked at the pics of the ppl playing in the tournment they had the maps 2x2 but to where they were playing across them the short way, like:

and my friends and i are playing where the maps are rotated 90 deg., going across the map long ways

which is correct??

Long ways. The people in the photos are actually playing long ways, too, but the maps are turned sideways to fit on the narrow tables.
