In the question on PT.commanders - initiative it was ruled that the PT work like infiltrators and are not making a paradrop. But the actual wording is "deploy" and not "reveal". IMHO that means that the PT actually drops in from above and not that he hides and pops up from the ground. I think that the interpretation is purely metagame, after so many of us have problems with this SA. But with the commander ability it becomes game relevant if the Commander is on board (even if he is, if he is hidden how should he lead the troops effectively) and uses his bonus or he is off board and appears out of the sky.

And another consideration, if he is on board and a friendly PT is already "revealed" adjacent to the commanders later spot of appearence (i know this spot is not predetermined) should not the PT the +1 attack die for being adjacent to the commander - as he is on board as you said.

I would like to get a consistent explanation af the Paratroop mechanic.

You seem to be asking for a rationale behind the way paratroopers work in the game. That isn't the purpose of this forum, which exists to answer questions about how the rules should be applied. Discussion about why certain rules were written one way and not another belongs in the general forum.

Such a thread already exists, and it contains a direct answer to this question by Mons Johnson (http://boards.avalonhill.com/showpost.php?p=77998&postcount=132).
