a question about defensive fire

If during the assault phase i choose to move a unit can that unit provoque defensive fire or defensive fire is only during movement phase?

The glossary defines defensive fire as, "A free, immediate attack that a unit provokes if it moves from one hex adjacent to an enemy unit to another hex also adjacent to that enemy."

Movement, whether it comes in the movement or assault phase, can provoke defensive fire.
