Just wanted to clarify the question from the thread below "SS-Panther and disruptive fire Question #2 " - does the flamethrower ability (rolling 3 6's results in automatic destruction of target) trump the usual cap on defensive fire (max effect disruption only).

Yes. This falls under the "Abilities trump rules" heading (page 26). The flamethrower's special ability overrides the usual defensive fire restrictions.
