For those of us with our head in the clouds, not knowing what ASL is, other than Above Sea Level ;), could you expand on this idea of campaigns?

ASL is American Sign Lan... err, wrong context.

Advanced Squad Leader. A small-scale tactical wargame, which is apparently more historically accurate (and more complex) than AAM. They had linked-scenario campaigns, sort of what WotC_Bob mentioned a while back that he was developing (only the ASL campaigns were usually books, i.e. "The Gates of Stalingrad" or something like that.)

An interesting trivia note: The Java boardgame applet "Vassal" is a name derived from Vasl, Virtual ASL. Why is that important? Because there is an (excellent) DDM mod, and there are a couple of mods in the works for AAM!

Just my 2 ep worth,

Redgar

This Site (http://www.vasl.org/) explains the concept of Vasl well, and links to ASL pages.

This Site (http://www.vassalengine.org) has the current Vassal engine and info about it; the above site has the VASL module.

yes, you can play historicly acurate games for the hist buffs like the major thats how were losing people and they could make them like a starter for the guys who do not like boosters.

If by campaigns you mean "a linked series of scenarios that flow from one to another and require the player to manage resources from battle to battle as well as make decisions between battles," then I would say yes.

Now that is so very very cool. And it's just taken this game to that elusive "next" level. Well done!

Let me clarify one thing.

Yes...on the web site we will be doing that. Will we release a product with campaigns in them? Answer hazy, try again later.

There are lots of interesting ways to make a campaign and link them, so you will be seeing some variety there.

i wonder if it will be like the starter with 2 countries and armies included and booster for the campain. so guys like the major will be happy and you can beef up your favorite armies without sacrificeing a goat for good luck to get the pieces you want from a radom booster.

yep, there would be no beetter feeling than grabing the kokoda trail campain starter or set with maps, extra counters, plus a initial japaness army and a british force, mabey some new piece added in the set. you could play senerios linked or a big battle there with extra from the boosters, mabey a twist were if your winning you can try take port mosbey with japs extra fictional senerios and maps. too menny possiabilities to waste the idea and the players enthusiasm not to do this and break the booster cycle.

Let me be clear here:

We will be doing scenarios/campaigns on the web site.

Will there ever be an AAM Campaign Product available for purchase? That remains a mystery.

I am only confirming that we will be doing things on the web site in line with a campaign.

hey if i save money on these senerio's that are free for down load who cares about spending money on boosters i actauly can get more countries to play with, and i have plenty of people to trade with. so cool.
