These are just crappy cellphone pics. I'll try to post better ones later.

This 3 x 3' map changes w/ every game...definitely more fun that way.

All homemade. :) Acrylic paint on felt. Felt on standard gray cardboard or packing foam (hills).

Thanks for the comments. Here's another one...better (morning) light and showing hills.

that looks really nice. How long did it take to make them. Are they kinda like the "battle cry" hexes

I'm interested how the hexes were done.

Is there a hex template out there that you can buy for creating maps?

What material did you use for forest hexes? I ask because I made a game board almost the exact same way (stiff felt, painted and whatnot) and I used clumps of flock on green felt hexes for my forests.

I love it! When (if) you have an opportunity, post some higher-res images so we can copy (I mean, drool over) the details.... :)

Thanks. 95% of it took about a week of evenings.

I've never seen the Battle Cry hexes.

The hex template was just a cut-out from the PDF maps WoTC provided. I cut the hexes out ouf cardboard and stuck felt on them, painting roads, towns, or streams on that.

Actually, if you check the post one or two above this one, PatrickWR made some much nicer stuff. With the exception of the hills, mine are flat. I geared it towards making a fresh map every time but kept the aerial view mostly intact.

Yeah, I saw that early on. Much nicer than mine. Definitely rocks. I experimented on how to do forests and settled for adding another layer of different colored green felt over the first, cut like an aerial shot. I also painted the edges of same where I wanted it to blend with the base felt. I found a green acrylic paint that matched perfect.

The 3D hills make a big difference to my eye tho, more than the tiles I think. It really emphasizes that blocking terrain effect.

Heh, copy away. ;) (FYI, PatrickWR was the first to make something like this...and much better.) It only makes the game more enjoyable. I'll post something else later. Not sure what the data limit is. Anyone know how big a file you can post here? Or if there's a better place that allows bigger files to link to?
