I've only played A&A minies and not Memoir '44, but I've heard and seen a lot of good things about Memoir '44. Which do you guys think is better?

Not the same thing, but both are fun! You can also use mem44 stuff with AAM, and even the infantry of AAM with mem44...

I bought Memoir '44 after Origins 2005. Setup takes just about as long as the game to play. Vassalengine.org is really the way to play (no setting up cardboard units).

AAM is a little better (neat figs), but game play is bad.

There is still an unmet WWII prepainted mini game market out there. '44 and AAM both have components that are neat, and both miss the mark.

I got Memoir before I began playing AAM and I will say it is a great game. Extremely fun. The mechanics are quite simple but that is its charm.

Play depends greatly on your cards; hand management is key. This element simulates the fog of war, in that you may not always be able to move the units you would like. And there are some cards that can really change the tide of battle.

Scenarios are well thought out, and fun, Maps are great as well.

This is a set up and slug out game that I think light gamers could catch onto easily and enjoy. The desert/winter/terrain expansions add more map/troop elements to take the game to the next level.

I can't recommend hightly enough. Everything to need for 40 to 50 bucks. Anyone can play.

Totally different than AAM, but still fun.

Memoir '44 has better game mechanics. And it's just downright FUN!

Memoir '44 is a great game and very fun. However, it is just a bit too dice dependent. When you roll 3 dice, statistically, you can miss what you are rolling for again and again and again. When you roll 11 dice, you tend to have a more neutralizing effect on the extremes. This makes some of the bigger AA&M units more predictable, without making anything automatic.

Cover rolls, hello????

And when you roll 3 dice many times over you quickly exceed 11.
