What did everyone else think of this article? I thought is was a great idea as it lets people who are just getting in on set II to see what the tanks of set I can do. I also think that unless you put the tanks into historical context- ie play them by year, then the game becomes pointless because the end of war tanks are nigh unstoppable to these early ones.

I really tend to put a historical date limit to my casual gaming with friends. We all have a fairly good amount of vehicle and infantry so we can built real size battalion.

The article is a nice addition to most of what I knew about the arrival of such tanks. But place in the face of tournament, it is quite useful when times come for a WOTC sanctioned event.

I am not a fan of mixing unit, but it gives the game another look. I do play official tournament in my city, and was never able to win any by presenting a total one/two country that fought alongside. So after 2 invitation, I had to realize that, until theses tournament have no date limit and county wise formation, I will have to mix my battalion.

sorry Lynx- my bad and I have been 'away' for a week or so. I agree the Stuart is one of my favorite tanks- and I loved shooting up infantry with it.

Not your fault. Truth to be told the article is a bit redundant for us -- we've already talked most of the stuff in there out, so low interest here on the board is understandable.

There will be more of the articles coming out...I was sure a few people would disagree on the analysis of the tanks. For the most part, I tried to keep the larger, more effective tanks out of my head.

I for one am a fan of using the Stuart to assist the Sherman.

Also, I did not want to be overly critical of the tanks that are less than adequate to do anything except take up points. Each analysis was also based upon hit probabilities for each tank and armor value.

We played a 1939 only campaign this weekend. Germans vs. Polish. It turned out to be very fun. We allowed the Poles to field a renault to flesh out their armies and man that sucker is a beast in 1939. We also let the Poles use Romanian or French troops to help fill out their infantry to go along with their Horsies! It was fairly Historical using these troops as proxies and a good fight was had by all. But yes, the 1939 Renault is very powerful in its time period.

I am also playing some 1939 only games. I found the German having a long of trouble when facing the Renault. What helped a bit is to allow the Romanian R-2 LT-35 be used as PzKw 35(t), which was historically available for the German anyways. However, at the same cost, the Renault is still much better than the R-2/Pzkw 35(t).
