When playing larger games (150pts + and up) how many units do most people allow? Are more than the standard 15 allowed and if so, does it follow a pattern at all? Ex. +5 units for every 50 points so 20 units would be allowed in a 150 pt game, 25 in a 200 pt game, etc....

I played a game last Friday recreating the Soviet-Japanese fight over the Halhin Gol river area in the summer of 39. We used 197 pt. armies. The Japanese had 30 units total. The Soviets 28.

In anything other than a 100 pt. Tournament army I would say use your best judgement. 15 per 100 points could be a good rule of thumb.

And the T-26 is a monster. Poor Japanese armor was destroyed within 3 turns.

Just relax the unit limit completely. Gets you bigger games and encourages the use of the cheaper Infantry.

I pretty much agree with that. I say set a friendly limit. and Just have fun recreating battles and events.

When I've played large games we do set a limit to how many vehicles or infantry sometimes. jsut to make it interesting.

Here is how we have played our larger games.

150pt skirmish = 23 units total 7.5 or (8) rounded up units added
200pt skirmish = 30 units total

This is pretty much relative to each larger battle you plan on playing.

In the 200 pt games I've been in it's whatever you can field for your points. Field day for the Allies. A little looser for the Krauts.

Same here, I use whatever I feel like, and let my opponent do the same in a free for all. I do like fighting historical conflicts the most, so that does limit what is available, and in what quantity as well to each player. One of the limitations of A&A is that I never seem to have all the units I need.
