Howdy Gents,

I was contacted today about possibly editing a "Gunslinger Player's Guide" for "The Boardgamer". The people who were interested in seeing such a "Guide" in publication contacted Bruce Monnin and me. Bruce's concern is the number of people who might actually buy a Guide. In order for him to publish, he wants to know that he can sell at least 200 issues. I don't honestly know how many people play the game. I know we have about 50 people at the “Gunslinger Saloon” who have played games over the last few years. I also know there are a number of people who stop by the forum to watch games in progress, but who do not play. And I know there are a number of groups of players in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Italy, and maybe Spain who play face to face.

Just how many people would be interested in seeing this done? You can either contact me or leave a message at the “Gunslinger Saloon”

Just to help clarify what a player's guide should include: it should compile all the added/expanded rules that's been used in the past few years as we've played via email and face to face(blind game-mastered play, weather rules, leading a horse, ect.), new scenarios, analyses of specific scenarios and the new Railway Expansion rules (Tom has recently completed about 15 new maps and several period railroad cars). I'm sure several railroad holdups are going to come from this addition.

I'm also hoping the publisher will add the railroad cars (at least) as an insert to the guide. He has done this with guides published for other games. Maybe even the Record Sheets for the stock characters from the game.

If you know of anyone who may be interested in this item, urge them to contact Tom so that he can see if the effort will be worthwhile.

Ooooooh Yeah, this would be great! - I got Boardgamers Guide to 1776, one of my all-time favs, and it was very rich in material of different types.

I hope they include new maps made by Tom, Clause, etc.

Definitely count me in as a purchaser!

I just recently got a copy of the game, so you know I'd be interested a players guide. It was the articles in Boardgamer that got me interested in the game. So I'm sure there would be plenty in a guide to interest me at least.

Howdy,

Glad to see another target pop up .... ah I mean player join the Gunslinger ranks. (Sorry, couldn't help myself) As you're new to the game and all of the things that are available for it let me give you a hand.

At Jonathan Arnold's site "The Wargamer.com"

http://www.thewargamer.com/Games.html

You will find a goodly number of new boards created for the game as well as specialized Character Log sheets. Yes, there are several articles in the Boardgamer on Gunslinger as you mentioned. Those articles are quite useful, especially the ones which cover rules corrections, additons, and interpretations.

Also, feel free and please allow me to invite you, to drop by the "Gunslinger Saloon" a website devoted to Gunslinger play. That address is:

Again, welcome to the old West and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Take Care,
