I think most of us would like to see AH/WOTC produce a Axis and Allies Miniatures carry case, capible of carry between 200-300 units and areas to hold maps, dice, and all of the other things.
That would be a nice christmas present.

I'm wondering how these solutions will work when the planes come out in Contested Skies, as their tall bases will make them very difficult to fit in a small container.

I use the big *ss tackle box I got from Cabela's Outfitters. Actually cost less than 50 bucks and holds everything and then some. The only strange thing was my wife explaining to one of the clerks that it was to hold all my little tanks...

Some of us use Foam Trays in a .50 cal ammo can.
Just cut your trays to fit the can, and cut pockets in the foam for the units to set in.
Leave about 1/2 inch off along one side, to slide in rules and maps.
Won't hold hundreds of units, but it will hold 2-3 armies, and it looks cool.

I think you can remove the mast from the base and plane.

I use those Wizard of the coast boxes that are given out at demos and keep the boxes in a sturdy dufflebag. Dice and tokens are stored in a side pocked of the duffle bag in a ziplock bag and I store the maps in a folder. It keeps everything easily sorted and easily found. total cost for everything cost me $8.00

I've got these neat 3 (2 of these) and 4 (3) drawer units by Tupperware. I've purchased them from OfficeMax and Staples. On the top they have "pockets". One is just just right for holding the cards and the other for dice, marker disks, etc. I believe I paid $3 or $4 dollars each.
When traveling I put a big rubber band around the unit to keep the drawers from opening/spilliing. They're sturdy, water resistant and hold plenty of the minis. Highly recommend them.
Cheers!
Tackle boxes here - the 2" tall ones that clip together-Axis on one side & allies on the other. Had a bunch left when Mechwarrior & Mage Knight went to e-bay. For the cards & maps I have a 3 ring binder, with the cards in point value order by nation in 9-pocket sheetses, etc in top-loading sheets.

I keep my dice in a buck skin bag. The minis I keep in a ammo can. (I have 2 just need to make holders 1 for axis and one for allies.) Keep the maps in a folder as well as my scenarios. My counters are in a little leather bag. The cards I keep in 2 small boxs one for axis and one for allies.

Two large tackle boxes (yeah I got alot, Don't tell my wife) with the cards in card boxes on top. I have my maps laminated, it makes them lay flat. Placed the maps in a cheap portfolio holder.

I'm using Ziploc brand, snack sized (6 1/2 inch by 3 1/4 inch) storage bags to hold the figures with their cards. Then I store them in cardboard boxes which are left over from cases of Starbucks Frappuccino I buy at BJs wholesale outlet. ( 3 inch deep by 7 1/2 inch wide by 10 inch length) I can then store my US, UK, Japanese, Russian and German figures in their own boxes. Then all of my minor nations go into a sixth box. It may not look nice, but its easy to handle and easy to look at the figures without removing them from the plastic bags. I don't travel much with them, so I'm not worried about the bags spilling out. Total cost: a few dollars for a box of 50 ziploc snack sized bags.
The money I save goes towards buying more AAM figures.

I was unable to find anything in that price range on their websites. Could you provide a link? Thanks.

I had an idea. I wonder if anyone has seen something like this.
A plastic file folder case. They are deep enough to fit about 4 or 5 plastic trays in them one on top of the other.
I have a plastic file foder case with handle (standard size - non legal doc size).
It is very deep. You can buy them at any stationary store in North America.
But can you get trays to fit inside?
My storage now is towers/trays that are getting out of hand.
I will keep you posted if I can find work out the file folder box.

you can get pill dose boxes at pharmacies (you know they are the things for sorting out dozes for easch day or time of day.)
you can get them up to 31 day. So you should be able to get some to the right size for your can. Most armour is not going to fit however.

Home Depot has come nice plastic divideable trays that are semi-clear for $3.29 apiece. I use one for each major army (except the Germans who get two.) Plus you can change the dividers around to hold multiple tanks.

I use a Plano tackel box for all the mini games that I play. The tackel box has room in the bottom for three removable trays. I have about 30 trays with the pieces from Mechwarrior, Star Wars, and A&A. When I go to play, I load the trays in the the box. In the top of the box, there is room for the pieces that do not fit in the trays. I carry MW Mechs and SW huge figures. THere is plenty of room for A&A planes.
