just a poll to see if a stuka swarm if possible and effective or impossible and ineffective. WOW 21pts for a stuka. I dont know how the work yet but i wonder if you could swarm them to create havok amoung your enemy tanks. i can just see it now

anyone know if this will be possible

only at 3 stukas... and you can forget about armor...

Assuming a standard Sherman Swarm, you have 16 points left to fight over the objective against 2 Humbers. If you bought a Hauptman, that only leaves you 9 points. Infantry like that could be just so much Humber-bait. So, better make sure you take a Panzer III (though I hate giving up initiative like that).

The other BIG question is the hit to kill probability for the Ju87G. I would expect it to be quite good. Also, is the Stuka going to be a "one shot weapon"? You might not even need 4 of them. But if they are one shots, and you aren't guaranteed a kill with them, then the Stuka swarm won't work.

And what if your opponent takes anti-aircraft units? What then?

Yeah, I would be very surprised if aircraft could contest/hold the objective...so Stukas will make great tankbusters, but you'd better back 'em up with something beefy to hold the objective on turn 7.

I am going to guess the cost of the stuka or any plane will represent a sortie. A one time deal per payment.

I know I'm going to sound like a stick in the mud, but...

...it might be better to wait and see what the stats for the Stuka are and how the aircraft rules are going to work before planning a "Stuka Swarm."

Why? What's their SA?

That's true. Messerschmits or FWs or something cheaper might prove to be a better swarm unit.

It's really hard to say anything about something you barely know; it's 21 points and defence 4/4 is about all we have to go on...

Well, now we also know that planes can attack planes. So that automatically means that you won't be able to buy 4 stukas, only 3 max plus a fighter. Your opponent could buy just one fighter, or a fighter and an AA unit (see, I'm listening, Bob) and then your kill ratio of stukas to tanks becomes too speculative to risk investing heavily in planes to begin with.

Here's a question for Bob: As a consequence of adding air units, will WotC be raising the point total and/or unit limit for the Tournament Play rules?

I guess that units with the stukas will have to be AA guns and some infantry to take out enemy AA guns... man it's like rock/paper/cisors

Of course, it would help if we had the attack points and SAs for the Stuka, but I go out on a limb....I think the Stuka swarm will be capable tactic. Not a very good one, but a capable one nevertheless.

Ah, but where's the fun in that? :)

Just for the sake of spite in the face of my own ignorance, here's 100pt build:

3 Stukas
1 Brumbar
1 Haupsturmfuhrersfinkterdorfer
1 mauser Kar
2 SSPGs

Jumping the gun? Definitely. But fun nevertheless.

Without the screaming sound during divebombing? That's gotta be worth an SA. :D

And in my ignorance, I'll just assume that my Allied planes only cost 2/3rds what your Axis planes cost you. Brouhahahahahaha!!! :)

Why, of course they will - German planes will cost more due to extended range...
