Ok ive played a few games (2-3) with my Nashorn and i have one kill and the Nashorn has been destroyed in each game (obviously im doing something wrong) what is a good stradedgy for this unit. i put in a a hill so it can shoot through any hex the enemy is trying to hide behind. My Opponent says hide my Nashorn behind some cover while hes still on a hill hex. in other words the enemy must within my line of sight.
Hope this makes sense (doubt it)

If your opponent is using ParaTroopers then leave some SSPGs as protection. Or some other fairly good infantry attacking unit. Try to draw your opponents attention away from it some how. I'm a Nashorn addict and have destroyed 3 T-34's with it in one game so...

The Nashorn can be a pulverizing unit...
Ive kill many a tank with this beauty...
My tactics with the nashorn are easy..
some maps have hill hexes 2 deep such as tiger heaven...
keep the nashorn behind the hill hex on a hill hex and use superior optics to hit targets...atleast on TIgerHeaven you can get a clear shot at the objective...
remember the Nashorn is not slow so he can get out of trouble really quick...
CappiToast is right though, support for this unit is always good...preferably a unit just as quick as it or tough enough to get the nashorn out of trouble...
the Nashorn is a great unit but from my experiences its better in bigger games...
100 pt games for the Nashorn just doesnt cut it usually...Unless your opponent
doesnt know what it is capable of...But he will :)

Canuck is right. I don't think the Nashorn make sense to play until you get to 200 point games, and it doesn't begin to shine until you get to much larger games (>500 points). You also need a large map, to really be able to use it. If you are just playing on the starter maps -- or even two sets of starter maps -- then your Nashorn will usually be in range of allied guns in a turn or two turns.
Joisey and I (et al.) played a 1000 point game on a huge map. It took so long for me to cut through all of his other forces, in order to get to the Nashorn, that the Nashorn more than paid for itself.
Also, you can't just judge the Nashorn's worth by comparing its cost to the cost of the units it destroyed during a game. Restricting your enemy's movements is, tactically, incredibly valuable. And distracting your enemies also has tactical value. So if your buy a 45 point Nashorn and only manage to destroy 30 points of enemy armor, but its mere presence on the battlefield severely cramps your opponent's game, then your Nashorn will not only have paid for itself -- it will be worth its weight in gold.
