So what plane do you boys/girls want to see most in upcoming set? I am getting mine... The stuka. I got to sit in the cockpit of one 12 years ago which started my interest in WWII, but I hate heights so I would not want to fly in one. If I had to pick another it would be the P40 warhawk (American) with the shark teeth.

The history of that plane was on 4 nights ago. Interesting history. How would you compare it to the P-51D (the version we are suppose to get) in speed, ammo, how far it can travel, etc?

STUKA ! the real one that every nation FEAR  !
The one that got a BOMB and a mighty Siren :D !
It should get an SA like intimidation ! and a one-time bomb drop, should also be good against all early ground target.
Still happy that we get one even if it's got no bomb and no siren and no special SA and is 1943 :( !

the fighter version was much better armed then the p-51, carrying 4x 303s and 4x 20mm in the nose, as well as 2x 500lb bombs, or 2 drop tanks
range and speed were about the same, in an old flight sim i used to fly in called Air Warrior, it could out turn a p-51, and it couldnt out climb a p-51 instantly, it could maintain a much better climb for longer

Which one? Messerschmit was a manufacturer of aircraft.
Anyway, I would like to see the P-38 'Lightning', the FW 190D-9, and the Do 335A-07 'Pfeil'. All fast, heavilly armed, and multi purpose.

I would love to see the P-38 Lightning. Something about the look of it.
I have a model of it on a shelf at home, in a ground attack configuration with 10 rockets under wing. Added to that punch of the guns in the nose brilliant.

It was used in the ground attack role against the Japanese. If the Corsair is a valid aircraft, so is the Dauntless.

Yeah... Corsair torpedo plane & Stuka dive-bomber... I'm a sucker for gull-wings! :D
P-38 Lightning for the odd shape
p-40 for the shark's mouth
Zero in white ... one of the  planes of the war, as far as looks go.
A Bf109 in "leopard" desert camo, see above
One of the most useful planes to add to AAM? A Fieseler Storch. Talk about "forward observer"! ;)

I can add that i would like an aircraft for my lovely chinese army :D !
i think it was a P-40 that was used in china.
Well also France, Romania, Poland etc.... and all other country, so that every country got at least one !

The Corsair was not a torpedo bomber.
There were quite a few planes used in China, but the P40 was the one that gained fame there when used by the AVG.

Introduce the P40 Flyer Tigers. Only usable by the Chinese, though!
CdtWeasel
02-27-2006, 08:13 AM
The Flying Tigers copied their sharkmouth from a British Tomahawk unit in North Africa, who in turned had copied it from a German Bf-110 unit who had copied it from one of the many other units to carry it before them. Seems just about every aircraft has had a tiger/shark mouth scheme at some point, lol.
The chinese airforce had several differnt types of aircraft, all imported, but they saw little action and were fairly ineffectual when they did.
Personally I'd like to see the Pzl P.11c (another great gull wing plane), any of the italian Fiat's or Macchi's, and the russian I-153 and I-16.

NO SHIPS PLEASE!!! That belongs in another game. Maybe naval fire support in some scenarios where naval bombardments played a part. You would need a spotter for this.

That made me laugh for a second. Because I am making a scenario with planes at night time. It involves a search light I am making out of a wooden dowel and its ability is that you can see planes at short and med. ranges and only help other units see the planes adjacent the search light. I have other rules as well.

Wasn't the Dauntless mainly a divebomber against ships?
The US Army used the Dauntless (A-24 in Army service), but the Army didn't like it. The US Navy and Marines had great success with the Slow but Deadly. The Army was moving away from single-engined attack planes anyway. Twin-engined planes like the A-20, B-25, and B-26, and the fighter-bombers were the ground support planes of choice.
The Free French did use Dauntlesses in 1944-45. US Navy SBDs were used in the North Africa campaign and in a few raids against occupied Norway. They were probably used in the Sicily and mainland Italy landings also.
Yeah, I want to see the SBD Dauntless too.

Early war, the Fokker DXII as a fighter. And the Buffalo too. Both have the advantage of serving with Finland to the end of the war.
The big problem is that there are so many planes to choose from!
Give me a P-38 though.

Not to mention that the Brewster used by the Finns had very different characteristics from those of the RAF and USN/USMC that were used in the Pacific and CBI.
