Someone said it might be a Marines Infantry, but we had yet to see a card or a mini...

Could someone please confirm something?
Anything?

I'd like to know, why the U.S. C.Z. kits are not availabloe world wide, but in the U.S. only =(.
This is quit the dumbest marketing strategy ever...

It's also available in Canada.
It's sad that fellow players outside North America can't get it.
Maybe it's being tried here until they see if it's worth expanding?
I sure hope so because it's a proven incitative for players to go to AAM nights at my local store. The number of players that comes to play have steadily grown since they included exclusive minis as promos.

I talked to my salesman today and he assured me the March kits are shipping this week (no explanation as to why they were late). I will post pictures and stats ASAP (probably Thursday afternoon), if someone else hasn't beat me to it.

Hello,

it is possible to get the Combat Zone Kits in Germany -
Every Salesman could order this - but there are no units inside.....
I hope for the future, they will bring the C.Z. Kits with Promo-Figures .....

Fortuna95, my Trader got one Promo-Kit recently, some terrain tiles, a crappy scenario and a dumb medal, no minis but and according to the german distributing source, this was the first kit for europe/germany and so I never will get the neat rare promo figures from the real first two kits =( *sob*.

Actually, I remember reading a post that said that was what was in the first kit released in the US too.

I got the March kits today, and the mini is a Marine Rifleman.

Stats:

Cost: 4
Speed: 1
Defense: 4/4
A/I: 8/7/2
A/V: 2/-/-

SA's:

Gung Ho: This unit gets +1 on each attack die when making defensive fire attacks.

Close assault 7--This unit has an attack value of 7 against vehicles in its hex. This attack ignores cover.

Looks like a good basic infantry, with Gung HO to help offset it's primary foe's (the Arisaka Rifleman) advantage in Hand-to-Hand by preventing it from closing. But why the 2 dice A/I value at long range? Very few targets that can be threatened by that small a value. I've always thought regular grunts should get some long range dice, but 2 seems a bit light. Any one else have any thoughts?

Agreed. That little beastie will be hard to shake from the objective. I just hope the Japanese get a comparable boost in the anti-tank department.

greyfox, did any hexes come with the March kit?

Finally!
Many thanks Grey Fox!
All the info with pictures too!
Great.
The mini looks good, but it will be hard to distinguish it from a M1 Garand... Same posture, same look...

What can you shoot with 2 at long range vs soldiers?

Actually, the figure looks enough different 'in the flesh' to be distinguished. The helmut is in camoflage colors and the Marine has a large backpack with entrenching tool that isn't visible in the scan I posted. But it will join the Garand rifleman and SS-PG in the 'easily confused at a distance' group.

In regards to hex tiles, we didn't get any this month, instead we got a scenario entitled 'Take the High Ground'. 100 points, German defender and American attacker, but it looks more balanced than the Hill 207 scenario we got in October. Unfortunately, a scan of the scenario won't fit in the BBS upload limit. Does anyone now if this a new one, or just a hardcopy of one posted here by WOTC? And, we also got MEDALS, again,... and there was great rejoicing.

I don't see any function for the 2 AI at long range. Might it be something to do with the upcoming D-day set IV. I wonder if the 2 dice at long range might be of some use when more is known about that set. Just thinking out loud.

Perhaps it has to do with aircraft. Perhaps there is an aircraft with defense 2?

Team up two marines and you can take out disrupted AT guns and mortars at long range. Sure they have to be already disrupted and you have to get 4 sucesses on 4 rolls, and then hope your oponent doesn't make a cover save, and... once every 5 trys you might do it...

I always forget that disrupted units get -1 to defense as well.

The SNLF Fanatic is the anti-tank unit everyone wants for the Japanese; it can cut tanks right in half.

Medals!

Nice to see a good unit released this month. This will help stir up activity (err.... competition) in our league and with the new errata set III looks to be a blast!

I'm guessing that some sort of forward observer SA or some commander might boost that value somehow... or give a +1 on dice...

Any one else have any thoughts?I agree with you greyfox I was hoping that the US would get a soldier that would have a long-range dice of 4 or at least 3. The two shot at least can do something to Ats and Mortars when they are disrupted. Hopefully WoTC is planning ahead for D-Day and giving the Marine another target it can deal with at long range. Of course it is better than making a game buster. So far everything seems well balanced.I agree with PatrickWR

About the long A/I value, I don't think your average grunt is really taught to shoot at targets 500-800 yards away. Even with every marine being a rifleman and though I'm not positive about a Garand, I doubt you can set the rifle sights to that kind of range. I know my 91/30 can be set for up to 1000 yards, but that is due to the fact it is from a period when volley fire was still considered a viable option.
