It says in the rules: "A submarine may submerge in combat... and remains submerged until the end of the noncombat move phase. The submarine then resurfaces regardless of whether enemy units are still there; this does not trigger combat."
When is it triggered? My guess is during the combat phase on the turn of the owner of the enemy units sharing a SZ with my sub. Is that correct?

In that case, if I (lets say germany) resurface among US units, there won't be an attack until the US turn. Correct?

What if I resurface among both US and UK units? Then combat occurs during the UK turn I suppose, but what about the US units. Will they be mere spectators to the battle, or what?
Or if I resurface among US units but a UK unit enters during his turn. Then UK will have to fight my submarine. US - spectator?

Maybe these are dumb questions, but I'm new to the game, and I would appreciate an answer.

I've been reading this forum for a few months. Thanks all of you guys. You've been an awesome inspiration to start playing A&A. It's been great to see so many enthusiastic players.

Big thanks to Larry and Mike for what seems to be a great game.

Thanks! I guessed that was how it worked. I just needed to find out.

Maybe I should have started a new post but my question relates to subs. Let's say that the UK has a BB and 3 trans and US has a BB and 3 trans parked in front of Germany. On Germany's turn, Germany buys a sub and puts it in that sea zone. Does this prevent the UK on its next turn from moving it's untis out of there? Is combat triggered by this? I don't want to get into a substalling debate but I see the potential to stop the UK from shucking into this zone for at least a turn. Maybe I am out in left field on this one but the rules do say that a country can build sea untis in an enemy occupied sea zone. Any thoughts?

The UK would either have to attack the sub or move away during combat movement. If the sub was still there on the US' turn, the same situation would apply.
