I used a ARMY surplus wool blanket. I got some 4 inch hexes made and I used a sharpie. Total time to make 2 hours. I hope you all like it here are the pics. Total playing area is 6FT by 5 FT. Thanks

Here is some of my buildings. This is a ruined villa. Im still working on making the rest of my terrain. Ie Hills and forest stuff. I got the trees I need to paint and flock them and put them in the foam. Hope this helps.

Your building is bigger than the hex is. How does that work out?

the buildings are around 8 inches long I just put them in the middle of 2 hexes. The look really cool and you can tell your units have cover in them. Sorry it took me so long to talk back to you. Im making diner, the wife is in class right now. Thanks again

are the trees the same scale?

I have made a similar 3 inch hex mat using a heavy felt cloth. I am working on the hills using WarChild7's foam board technique. For forrest I plan on using one or more hex sections made of stiff plactic, green felt guled to the top, and then use standard terrain trees on it. Water and roads will be brown or blue felt that i can lay right on the mat. Buildings will be the printed paper building mentioned in another thread.

I am interested to see what ideas I can steal from Lathrop. :)

If I can give you any Ideas let me know what you are looking for? Im going to get me some rubber mat to cut out and make my water filled hexes. Im going to make some swamp hexes filled with the fake water stuff. Im also going to put in some moss for the vegetation. Hope this helps. Thanks everyone

well I give it a 10 out of 10 , I also had an idea of using scanned pics from ww2 and shrink them so scale , and make terrain that way, or in your case you could glue the pics onto the blanket,etc. I think what you did is great, keep up the good work,
