I am going into the Wagon of Painting.
I just bough a Airbrush system and re-equipped myself with brushes.
I am using Vallejo painting, like I use to before. I still have unopened Tamiya paint, but darn they smell.

So, to the subject!
What type of Black Ink do you use for Shading and other stuff that need the ink. And by the way, what is the real purpose of Ink. I have read numerous post about Dry Ink technique, but what is a good result of one... Any pictures!?! to show the OLD FART trying his hands and eyes to painting. :D

Personally I use Games Workshop (Citadel Colour) inks.
Chestnut Ink for rust and exposed metals and Black Ink for detailing.
I also use the two togeather for some weathering effects.

I mainly use Citadel paints and inks because that is what I happen to have on hand and it is the easiest for me to get but, they have worked well for me in the past and they have been working well for me so far.

Keep in mind that this thread is going to be a bit slower than the general thread.

I am not an experienced painter but cant you thin out black or grey paint and use that? I thought I read that somewhere.

If you intend to use thinned paint, then thin it with Matte Finish rather than water. It will settle into the deeper spaces more evenly this way. Water leaves high water marks as it dries and often makes the model look dirty.

I use Adikolor inks/washes. I use colored ink to accentuate depth as black can mess up certain colors (like yellow/ochre).

I personally don't like to use inks I prefer to use charcoal and pastels chalks for weathering effects

Many Thanks Guys... Sorry If I was a little excited... Airbrushing is demanding, and I wanted to prepare the deepest line to be put first...

I will try to find the Citadel Ink. I know some carry the paint.
Since I use Vallejo, I was hoping you guys use basic China Ink. but It ain't the thing I guess.

I use Tamiya for my base colors because its what I picked up first.

Xzuatl, sound Aztek,

The problem with Tamiya, is the solvent!
It can't be mix with Water base Acrylic paint.
So I got plenty, not to say, all of the Tamiya Paint, big and small jar. It was fun because I was able to use my Badger Airbrush to fit the jar of the Tamiya paint. With Vallejo, I have to mix much of it apart. But the result is astonishing. I have a tendency to overlay to much, but it is coming... The time I will make Shoots of it to show here.
