Has anyone seen the hex terrain put out by Kallistra?
I think it will work perfectly for AAM. I was hunting around on the web for some durable 3D terrain that I can store easily, and I found Kallistra's website (just Google the word "Kallistra").
The hexes are 4" across, so our vehicles wont look so silly in tiny hexes whose edges touch the front and the back of the tanks. They also make a huge selection of hills (I recommend the 2 hex rocky outcropping for our scale), roads, streams, mountains, etc.
The best thing about Kallistra terrain is that it's made of very hard plastic (so it wont get destroyed like foam terrain), it's light (unlike terrain mounted on plywood), and it is stackable (you can store 3'x4' of hex terrain in a box that is only 12"x10"x10").
The shipping is kind of steep (comes from England), but if you order with a friend then you can split the shipping. They also give a discount per box of hexes if you order 3 or more.

The only problem is what could we use for trees. The trees sold by Kallistra are too big for our scale (35mm). And the trees from Woodland Scenics are way to fragile for my purposes. Can Anyone suggest a durrable alternative?
*NOTE: I am in no way connected to this company and this is NOT meant as an advertisement. I just think that the Kallistra hex terrain will work really well with AAM and I wanted to share what I found with the rest of the terrain making community.
Here's a picture of stacked hexes:

The shipping is kind of steep, but they are cool with you arranging your own shipping. Like I said above, I think the best solution is to place a combined order with some friends and split the shipping costs.
The shipping for the Hexon II boards is the most expensive part. If you order just terrain features (e.g. hills, mountains, etc.) then Kallistra's shipping is pretty reasonable.

anyone know the conversion of British pounds into US dollars?
This is some nice looking stuff!
and if your looking for a fast way to get into the 3D map play style this would be a great way to go about it!

http://www.xe.com/ucc/ I use this site for conversions.
The hexes look great, but way too expensive. I'm making my own from foam core.

The problem with foamcore board is that it is fragile and difficult to store. I also thought about using foamcore, but I don't want to spend a lot of effort making my terrain look battle worthy just to have it destroyed by the other junk in my closet.
Any ideas what I could use for trees?

I keep seeing these things and wanting to order them. I hate now that I bought that 3D Settlers of Catan game now. I could have gotten much of this stuff instead..!!

It would be nice if they distributed those products over here in the USA. I went to their site and had me about $120 worth of hexes in the cart :D then I noticed the shipping  and then I had to hit cancel button :( .
We should send them e-mails with the links of all our posts and maybe they could produce them over here if there is enough interest?

I have already sent them a dozen emails doing just that... and it worked. Kallistra is now looking into getting a US distributor. Stay tuned for more info.

Nah, I did it completely out of self-interest. I don't want to pay tons of money in shipping either!

As much endorsement to their product that you and your buddies have done so far; it would seem like they would give you guys a chance to sell them.

The Kallistra stuff looks so great and works so well with AAM that it really speaks for itself.
It would be a terrible idea for me to sell Kallistra terrain because I would keep it all for myself and I would go broke in the process!
