Today, myself and some fellow history buffs visited the Armored Warfare Museum at Ft. Knox. It also houses the personal collection of george patton.
admission is free. here's a big tank from WWI. I Forget what it was. But it had a cool cut-away where you could see inside. It was pretty cramped, and I've read about how nasty it could get in there. http://img196.imageshack.us/my.php?image=big1od.jpg a renault ft-17? from world war one. this piece has an interesting history. it's currently being restored after being recovered from a scrap yard in kabul. nobody has any idea how it ended up in afghanistan. http://img178.imageshack.us/my.php?i...naultfr2gf.jpg the american version of the ft-17 http://img184.imageshack.us/my.php?i...naultus2vo.jpg on to World War II crapphy japanese ha-go http://img196.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hago6sq.jpg here's a greyhound armored car decked out in constabulary colors http://img196.imageshack.us/my.php?i...eyhound0zx.jpg in this foto stimpy examines the inner workings of the much vaunted KT http://img196.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ngtiger8xq.jpg m4 sherman. true nerds will be enraged by the presence of canadian steel tracks. http://img196.imageshack.us/my.php?image=m44va.jpg a fugly marder2 http://img196.imageshack.us/my.php?image=marder25ld.jpg the deadly pak40 http://img178.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pak409dy.jpg an extremely rare panther1 prototype. http://img178.imageshack.us/my.php?i...anther27lc.jpg oh god i am not good with armored fighting vehicles. how did this get here? i think it's an m-10, i don't recall precisely. http://img178.imageshack.us/my.php?image=priest9dr.jpg here's the famous flak88 http://img196.imageshack.us/my.php?image=flak882nb.jpg a very battered longbarrel stugIII http://img184.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stug39mz.jpg the drive train of the t34 is vastly superior to the panther's crusty tranny http://img184.imageshack.us/my.php?image=t346gz.jpg the museum also houses the personal collection of george patton. here is his staff car. http://img178.imageshack.us/my.php?image=patton8te.jpg feel free to move this if you think it belongs more in off topic here's last weekends trip to a revolutionary war living history camp http://boards.avalonhill.com/showthr...942#post137942 Last edited by spacepope : 04-30-2006 at 09:39 PM. |

that is a panther 2 prototype, only one known to exist, the sherman is very likely a canadian sherman, the lower front hull is bolted together like most of the common wealth ones were, and the renault was prolly captured by the germans, who used them for policing, then by the russians, who shipped it to egypt of afganistan, the isrealies used alot of panzer 4s and shermans, i wouldnt be surprised if they had it for a while at some point

The Mach 1 I think.
I only really remeber that Indy fought a Nazi on top of it. Any chance for a Raider's of the Lost Ark expansion for the 10th or so set? |

That's great!
