Default RE: Hex Size & New Maps

Armchair Generals,

Please take a moment to consider this question: If new maps were created (featuring "desert terrain" or "snow and forest terrain") would you rather see 2" or 3" hexes?

Take a moment to give a reason too!

I chose (b). I DO NOT want to hex size changed, and I'm sick and tired of having to rebuild the map whenever someone bumps the table.

Although I like the idea of being able to put more units in a hex, the current system works OK and we all have these maps that would be useless if the "official" size went to 3".
Keep the size at 2" and give us some desert and jungle maps.

Hate the 3" maps. Hate 'em.

I do not like it when game companies take your money, and then turn around and tell you not to use what you paid for --- I'm assuming here that 2" maps will not be allowed for competitive play.

Smells like Magic.

I don't mind the prices going up, but what the (insert your own word here) is this 3 inch hex thing for. We wanted new maps, not new standards!

Well, mayhap the 3" hexes mean that we're getting an upscale in minis? Maybe the tanks will actually be 15mm to fit with our 15mm infantry?

And if the hexes are bigger, that would mean the terrain would be bigger, which would make the 1 hex = 100m scale a lot more sensical.

HATE the proposed 3" hexes. Keep some standards in the game. I didn't like when the cards were formatted different or when they used cheaper plastic for pieces either. STANDARDS need to be maintained to keep the game viable IMHO.

Some people have used plexiglass to help with this, which works well but if your table isn't big enough and you hit the glass you still have the same problem. If your on the cheap side (like me) sticky tac works very well, just a little dot of it in each corner of the maps. If you do 3D on a large map get some clamps and your set.

I'm kind of partial to leaving the maps at 2 inch so you can build bigger areas without having to buy multiples of new 3 in maps. What I think will probably happen with my group is the smaller scale battles will be done on the 3 inch ones while larger scale will still be on 2 inch because I don't see anyone buying more than 1 set of each.

I would like 3" hexes but it would make the new maps a incompatible with the old ones which is very WRONG!!!!!! I wish they were 3" to start with

Actually I have been thinking about this issue some more and I would be OK with the 3" hexes if WoTC gives us the original maps for FREE in this format. They could do this by including them in the boosters with the new maps. Though not perfect I could live with it then. Not likely to happen though.
(still waiting for that darn pig to fly)
