Default Ottawa, Montreal, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivieres: Big event this spring?

While browsing this board and some others, I came to realize there are several play groups in Western Quebec and Eastern Ontario:

Montreal at Quantum Cards
Montreal at Carta Magica
Trois-Rivieres
Sherbrooke
Ottawa
Did I miss any?

Would those players be interested if I set up a big A&AM Event in Montreal this spring (maybe in April/May), being that this is kinda of central to these locations? That way we could get 20+ players for a tournament, and make it a reoccuring event every 3-4 month? Considering many of us can't make it to big tournaments such as GenCon, this would be an interesting alternative.

PM me or reply to this thread if you are interested.

Sherbrooke ! !

We play at the Griffon ! Great places with a prety good pool of Veteran player that play many wargames for 12 + years including Axis & Allies board game.

We start playing Axis & Allies miniatures in august of last years ! Yes before we got the booster, we use stats card that we saw on forum and picture that was taken at a gaming convention in the u.s. , we use little Axis & Allies piece to do the infantry, tank and canon and play on Battletech map ! So dont ask if we love the game !!

We play only pure army in Sherbrooke so we dont know all the dirty trick like putting a Polish cavalry on a T-34 or killing chinese rifleman with he commisar to help a Bazooka ! We never fight against a Croc & Sherman swarm or a Humber & Sherman swarm. Of course the All Sherman swarm or all Para bomb is something that we fight time by time but since we play pure army you will see more ofthen a full chinese army against a Japan one or a Romanian against a Polish , a French against an Italian etc...

I ask a few friend this afthernoon and yes they would like a Montreal Tournament of any kind, Axis vs Allies or else no prob. I will be there and maybe 3 more guy, we will try to be there and have fun that's our main goal. I dont think you will see player with mixed army from Sherbrooke and if someone bring a full Polish army at the tournament well dont laugh, if he win you will be in trouble

When ready send us the date, time and place to play, the rules and years of the game.

Thanks !

By the way Gonash, Sherman and Crocodile saw action in Canadian regiment in 1944. For the Humber, it is the same. I dislike the appellation of "Pure Army". Historical is more common.
You can easily mix US and British, like Italian and German. But the rest had never happened. If you want to stay historical.

Since I live in Montreal, like Spad and Jaels, you can count me in for a Big tourney.

Agreed on Croc and Sherman being historical for a canadian army, but not with a Polish cavalry following on a Jeep ! " kinda ugly "

I know what you mean about historical and since that game is kinda new it is the only way to do things like a Canadian army. But we play only with cards of the same faction, even if there was Sherman in the russian army we wont play like that until we get a "real" Russian sherman or a canadian sherman. Maybe we will change that in the futur but for now we have a lot of fun with that game and if we get tired a day we might play " historicaly ". Also we dont use the 15 limit on unit and we have no prob yet.

I think i am lucky since in all Sherbrooke there is no one, not even one that play mixed army ! and we love the game.

In Montreal with you we will play with your rules dont worry. The worst that can happen tu us is loose

Well, as long as you are willing to make the 5-6 hours drive to Montreal, you and whoever else might join you are welcome! I named the initial cities because they are all within 2 hours drive of Montreal, but people from Ontario, New England, New York (and wherever else you might be) will of course also be gladly accepted. Sleeping accomodations might even be arranged with local players.

The more the merrier!

I think historical armies can perform quite well in the current environment, and will do even better once Set 3 is out, as there will be more choices for each nation. For example, FaveDave's Paratroopers & German armies are historical, and quite effective.

So you'll only have to grind your teeth when my Polish cavalry go kill your leader while my Crocodile defend the objective.
