I'm glad to see that stacking rule go into effect for aircraft... it just didn't make sense to have planes on the deck change the stacking of the ships...

Question on aircraft that survive the sinking of a carrier: If there are 5 aircraft stationed on the land airbase, a carrier sinks, and one of its aircraft survive, is the land base now able to hold 6 aircraft? Or does the aircraft die despite succeeding on the save roll?

As far as I know the normal rules say you got to loose aircraft untill you got max 5 on your airfield.

Thanks Y2UAsk.
MidnMike: on page 32 it says you can choose the aircraft to destroy if loosing a CV puts your land base over the 5 limit.

There's a point of sequence here that might be missed. If a carrier sinks, you roll to see whether any planes are lost with it in the same phase that the carrier goes down. "On a 1, that unit goes down with the Ship and is destroyed at the end of the phase." It doesn't wait until the Air Return phase. So you'll know at the beginning of the Air Return phase whether you have enough bases for all your planes.
When it comes to eliminating Aircraft because you don't have enough basing capacity, you can eliminate anything, including Aircraft that spent the turn sitting on the Land Airbase (in order to give planes that flew missions somewhere to land). Steve |

Dear Steve and co,
Thanks for posting updates so regularly, thanks for making sensible rulings (esp. on the carrier basing issue) and thanks for your efforts in general to address problems and look after your customers.
