Do you have HNLMS De Ruyter's stats?

(And can anyone turn that into game values?)

Edsall was sunk in the Battle of the Java Sea on 1 March 1942. Her Japanese pursuers fired more than 1,000 rounds, but only two hit. At 18:24 she received a direct hit from the battleship Hiei and at 18:35 another from the cruiser Tone. Edsall was also attacked by nine Aichi D3A dive bombers from Sōryū and eight from Akagi, which hit her with several bombs, leaving her dead in the water by 18:50. She was destroyed by the cruiser Chukuma and sank at 19:00 with 5-8 survivors, all of whom later died in POW camps. (In 1952 five beheaded skeletal remains of Edsall crewmembers were located in a grave in Kendari, present-day Indonesia.)

Edsall received two battle stars for World War II service.
Actually, Edsall was not at the battle of the Java Sea, which in any event took place on Feb 27-28, 1942. The five US destroyers that took part were Alden, John D. Edwards, John D.Ford, and Paul Jones (none of which were sunk), with Pope arriving at Sunda Strait on the 28th in time to be sunk along with HMS Exeter. Edsall was sunk three days after the battle, while the remainder of the ABDA forces were withdrawing to Australia.

How about HMS Refit and Repair (I mean Repulse and Reknown) when you get a chance.

HNLMS De Ruyter for EvilKobra

Laid Down: Sept 16th, 1933
Launched: May 11th, 1935
Completed: Oct 3rd, 1936

Length: 560' 7"
Beam: 51' 6"
Draught: 16' 9"
Speed: 32 kts*

*A speed of 33 knots could be attained if sufficient power was available for over-drive.

Armament:
7x5.9" guns (3 twin, 1 single)
10x40mm AA (5 twin)
8x0.5" MG's
Aircraft: 2 (1 catapult)

Armour:
50mm main belt
30mm fore & aft machinery & magazines
30mm barbettes, turret and deck

Notes:

Though the 5.9" guns could elevate to 60 degrees, they were not considered or used for AA.

The placement of the 40mm guns was considered flawed. They were bunched too close together on each side, allowing them all to be taken out with a direct hit, and restricting their arcs of fire. Most sources considered her AA armament to be lacking.

Modifications: The only thing that was changed on the De Ruyter before the war appearance wise, was the original funnel-cap being replaced in 1936.

Service: I did a little research to help settle the debate on when De Ruyter should be available that I saw going on in another thread. De Ruyter arrived in the Far East March 5th, 1937. She became flag ship of the East Indies squadron October 25th of that year. The earliest she could have been engaged in combat would be May 1940, after the invasion of the Netherlands. When the invasion occurred, De Ruyter was dispatched to search for German merchant shipping in the far east trying to make it back to Germany. The earliest combat operations against enemy warship's took place with the outbreak of the Pacific war in December 1941.

BTW, Jameson, if you'd like any assistance, my local library has Conway's '06-'21 and '22-'46 on the reference shelf, not 20' from my usual study-room. I've already been working up rebuild/modification histories on the existing in-game ships...

Thank-you Diamondback. I have already acquired some slightly less-than-legal copies over the internet in pdf format. A few of the pages weren't scanned that great, so I might just take you up on that offer.

The local libraries here are quite lacking in the naval history department, consider yourself lucky!

HMS Repulse for swarbs

Every source seems to have a different idea on what exact modernizations the Repulse underwent. The only thing they can agree on, is that it was less of one than what Renown received. This will take a lot of digging and comparing, I'll tackle it as soon as I have a lot of spare time.
