Question Question

Easy Eight,
This scenario looks good. I enjoy the smaller scenarios and games once in awhile. It is a nice break from the multi map, large point games. Sometimes I like playing games with infantry only, it to is a nice break from big armor battles. I thought your special rules “Hold Position” and “Hold your fire” were a great addition. There is only 1 question I have. You state in your set up instructions:

The road with the hills at the edge of the map and all hexes adjacent to it, number only 4 hexes. One can’t fit all the units in those 4 hexes unless the stacking rule is broken. Also there are only 3 forest hexes for 27 US units to be placed. Again one can’t fit all the units in those 3 hexes unless the stacking rule is broken. My question is; Did I read your instructions wrong, or is the stacking rule to be ignored?

I think you read the insturicons wrong because thats the number of points not units.

Default You are correct sir

Yes you are correct; I did misunderstand your instructions. Thanks for the clarification. I have made a scenario sheet for this scenario. Click on the images below to enlarge them, let me know if everything looks ok.

I love scenario's that use only commons / uncommons! Keeps this game affordable.

Some suggestions:
- A special rule "Night Time Conditions" - Maximum firing distance is 4 hexes.

- The Axis victory condition: "Exit three units of the western map edge

- Axis to set up first. Allied Rangers set up in the woods. Allied PTs "drop" in before the start of the game using the following rule: Allied player designates one of the three forest hexes as the target "drop zone". This must be a valid hex for deployment (no overstacking allowed).
Roll a D6, on a role of 1-3 place the PT in the target hex.
On a roll of 4-6 there was a miss-drop and the PT's land in one of the adjecent hexes. Roll another D6 for the direction of scatter (1 is the northeast hex-edge, proceed clockwise). If the miss-drop results in overstacking deploy move the PT another hex outward in the direction of the scatter.

BTW:
Do I have my war movies mixed up or do you mean "Band of Brothers" instead of SPR?

Its in Saving Private Ryan where the Rangers spotted a halftrack and then they found Ryan.

yeah, the germans a goal to motivate them. otherwise, they have no reason to engage the americans.

i would also make hold your fire voluntary. what if the germans aren't dumb enough to accomodate the allies and end up adjacent to them?

my favorite way to deal with a situation like this is to make the allied units invisible until they fire or move. just mark the deployment in your mind's eye.

i am also eager to see how you deal with the defense of vierville. ohama beach will probably have to wait until set 4.
